Location -
Located on the south side of the Truckee River in the casino area.
It is one block from the Cal-Neva.
Decor -
Tuscan countryside. The casino has stone pillars, archways, and country frescoes for that ancient Tuscan look.
The Hotel -
Siena is barely more than a year old and projects an upscale image. For example, guests sit
down to check in to the hotel in a setting that is quite different from most hotel lobbies.
Siena's 185 rooms and 29 suites range in size from 300 to 1200 square feet. They all have
river or mountain views, and are considered among the nicest and largest hotel rooms in the area.
The Floor dei Nobili is an all-suite area. The Italian theme, specifically Tuscany, is
carried throughout the hotel and it seems to work.
A typical week night room rate for mid March is $59.00 for a room with two queen sized
beds with southern exposure (the river is on the north side). Weekend rates the
same room in mid March are typically $20 more.
The Casino -
The casino, at 23,000 square feet, is small by Reno standards and does not have many
table games. The Tuscan theme is created by the stone pillars, archways and country frescos.
The slots and video poker are, in contrast, very much up-to-date.
Dining -
The Contrada Café, which is open 24 hours a day, is a casual restaurant with an open
kitchen and live-fire oven. Specialties include sausages and rotisserie cooked meats.
Lexie's is a contemporary Italian restaurant with views of the Truckee River,
specializing in fresh seafood and organic beef.
Enoteca features the Tuscan Table, which is a seven-course meal that teams gourmet
cuisine with
splendid wines. Only eighteen guests are accommodated at the single 6:00 PM seating Thursday
through Monday.
